a little backstory …

Sometime in the 1960s my family moved to the suburbs of New Orleans in an area called Metairie. They bought a modest house on a street made of shells from the Mississippi River.

My parents turned this house around within a few years. (My dad and brother are no doubt sweating in the New Orleans heat)

I’m the baby

We were five kids. My parents were hard working. Dad worked at a steel company and my Mom was just amazing how she juggled all of us. We still can’t figure out how she did it all with five kids and scarcely a ‘modern’ appliance to be had...

…but she was a wiz in the garden.

This photo was taken in the 70s

She carried the curvy walkway over to our new house built in 1969.
